How to Manage Your Monthly Data Transfer Efficiently

Monthly data transfer is the amount of information that you transmit from your site. In other words, each time a picture or HTML page is viewed by a visitor, it adds to your monthly data transfer. The average HIT is approximately 10k. This would mean that a transfer limit of 1.0 Gigabyte would allow 100,000 hits and a limit of 12.0 Gigabytes would allow 1,200,000 hits. (That's a lot!)

To keep your data transfer low, follow these suggestions:

 - keep the images on your website below 10k
 - do not use too many images on your site
 - limit your audio/video clips
 -  if you are getting a lot of hits and using a lot of data transfer, take advantage of it! Sell banner space. It's not a 'bad' thing to use a lot of data transfer if you are making money on the extra traffic.
